Really, 88 Keys is now my dude despite not knowing him. I think he has put things in perspective for all "Lo Heads". As a self proclaimed "Lo Head" myself I hate finding cats who don't fully understand or embrace the entire lifestyle Ralph has created around the brand. Oftentimes people only associate "Lo" with certain items from the early 90's, which was dope, but its like having tunnel vision. Open your eyes.. there are crazy pieces. I just copped this Purple Label jacket that is nuts. Most cats probably wouldn't even be able to identify it as a Ralphie piece, yet I firmly believe its the hottest thing I've copped all year. And yes,its ILLER than the new knits he dropped.

Y'all know the drill. I highlight those that deserve their props. This is the "gear" edition.


When you talk about hometown love, you're talking about 37 Deep. If you've ever been in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, you've probably come across someone wearing a t-shirt from the line. Last summer particularly, the hood exploded when founder, G, dropped the "FL@TBUSH" shirt. It was brilliant, yet simple and there was a flavor to match everything in your wardrobe. The clothing line is truly a local movement, and even its name is symbolic of the founder's childhood block. CO-SIGNED!!


5FD is a t-shirt line that is inspired by all things from pop culture. Unless you have a watchful eye, and are old enough to remember things like NaS' classic "Illmatic", many of the designs may fly over your head. It shouldn't matter either way because the line is FRESH! Although many companies are throwing golden era
Hip-Hop symbols on their clothes, 5FD simply does it better. The shirt designs are inventive, fly, and the subtle details put it above the pack. CO-SIGNED!!

Skinny Jeans

So I spent the greater part of this weekend partying. The one thing I saw which was rather disturbing was the hipster trend of skinny jeans. By all means, skinny jeans work for WOMAN as they accent thighs, hips, and buns, but men need not apply. So why in the world do these dudes actually believe its cool to rock them? This has increasingly become a topic of discussion, and we're beginning to see it permeate music. Brooklyn's own Nozzle Up Crew gives incredible insight with their bashment tune "Shotta Pants" which eloquently states "tight pants don't make you a shotta". However on the flip side, we are increasingly exposed to jokers like Ninjasonik, with his joint "Tight Pants". Not only am I offended by his gratuitous use of the N-word, but I don't co-sign this movement at ALL!!! This is not a good look; an awful look actually. Skinny jeans are for women, not dudes...so STOP IT.

Completely Random Thoughts

-I've been slacking on my "updated daily" blog promise
-It baffles my mind when video game developers put little to no effort in their Wii titles, even though the system has the largest install base.
-I'm excited about Mario Kart Wii
-I have to get those Metallic Gold/Black Dunks (if u know where to cop, put me on)
-I'm convinced Vince McMahon is a racist...why are all the black wrestlers on the "C" show, ECW
-Shelton Benjamin has BEEN the truth
-Anyone remember Bad News Brown?
-"No Air" by Jordin Sparks is easily one of the best produced & written songs I've heard in a minute
-Yeah, I LIKE "pop" music
-The era of the "Hip Hop Superstar" is behind us....that sucks
-Kids don't have many rappers to look up to & emulate
-A future of lil' wannabe Soulja Boys = my death
-"FRESH" is on Itunes & I'm super excited
-All my boys are getting married, and I'm like "congratulations" while concurrently re-evaluating my life.
-I guess that's it.

Slightly Disappointed

OK, if y'all don't know by now, I'm what most would consider a Lo Head. If you are clueless as to what that is, do your research. The Lo Lifes started urban fashion!!! No room for debate on this one...NONE. They single handily made fashion that wasn't necessarily intended for the hood, street sheik...or as my dude BK Cyph coined "luxury hood".

This ultimately brings me to my next point...Ralph has put out some crazy pieces in his last few collections. However, in my travels to my favorite stores recently, I've been underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, Ralph is always light years ahead of his American peers when it comes to fashion, but where are the ILL joints this season?
